Wall Hanging with Surface Design

Wall Hanging with Surface Design

Come and learn some of wet felting's surface design techniques to create a beautiful wall hanging that’s uniquely yours. We'll explore making craters, using pre-felts in two different ways and embellishing with a variety of materials that will elevate your felting skills and expand your creative toolkit. Making this 3-d sampler encourages playful exploration and intuitive design. You’ll have access to a rainbow of colors and a wide array of materials to support your imagination!

We’ll build several layers of wool to make a strong base, then use small resists in any shape you’d like to create “pockets”or craters that hold a window to another surface underneath. Maybe a different color, something sparkly, a eye-popping fabric? You decide! We’ll also use some pre-felt along with a little nuno felting perhaps to showcase raised textures and specific shapes. Embellishment and fabrics will round-out our play day. There will be plenty of rubbing and rolling to make your wall hanging come to life.

This class is designed for folks who have taken a few wet felting class and are familiar with the basics.

What to Expect: This is a physically active class that involves standing for long periods and vigorous rolling or rubbing using your fingers, hands, arms, and upper body.
