Harvest Basket with Driftwood Handle

Wet Felted Harvest Basket with Driftwood Handle

Celebrate the beauty of natural fibers while creating a charming, one-of-a-kind felted basket that's as useful as it is beautiful. In this all-day workshop, you'll use the wet felting resist technique to transform a selected natural, undyed wools into a sculptural harvest basket, finished with a hand-picked piece of driftwood as its handle.

As part of the creative process, you'll experiment with a variety of wool breeds, exploring how differences in staple length and natural color influence both the appearance and strength of the finished piece. Combining these fibers creates a sturdy vessel with beautiful organic texture and subtle color variation that celebrates the wool in its natural state. Add flax fibers for a unique design and added, natural texture.

We'll pay special attention to creating and reinforcing the openings for the driftwood handle, then spend plenty of time rolling, fulling, and shaping the felt to achieve a strong, durable form.

Perfect as a project tote or for gathering the season's treasures!

There will be plenty of rolling, shaping, and individualized attention. Some wet felting experience is helpful but not required—adventurous beginners are welcome!
