All You Can Eat Felting Buffet: Surface Design
January 24, 2026, 10:00am - 3:00 or 4:00pm
Indulge in a playful, technique-rich felting class designed to take your surface design skills to the next level. This “felt buffet” invites you to sample a variety of advanced surface design techniques while creating beautiful felted studies that can stand alone as art panels, table linens, or wall pieces—or be incorporated into future felted work.
We’ll use fine merino wool alongside silks, cotton scrim, viscose, and other embellishments, exploring both all-wool and nuno felted approaches. These detailed techniques are slow and intentional, relying on gentle hand-felting rather than heavy rolling or pressure—perfect for achieving delicate textures and nuanced surfaces.
You’ll experiment with abstracts using a monotype-inspired process, create and layer prefelts, and discover how thoughtful placement and transparency can add depth and movement to your work. This class is best suited for folks who have taken 1 or 2 felting classes and are ready to feast on surface design possibilities.
