Pre-felt Party Coasters

Join us for a lively, hands-on felting class all about color, texture, and playful layering. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create pre-felts—wool layouts that are only felted until they just hold together, then fully felted later as part of a larger piece. Because pre-felts keep their shape, they allow for sharper designs and details that stay beautifully intact.
We’ll begin by creating a soft wool base, then make a variety of colorful pre-felts using different wool blends and palettes. Once the pre-felts are ready, we’ll cut them into shapes and arrange them on our base layer, building bold compositions and unexpected combinations. To add even more interest, we’ll layer in embellishments like viscose, neps, and other textural details.
You’ll even have the option to swap pre-felts with classmates, giving you access to a delicious variety of colors and patterns to play with. After everything is laid out, we’ll felt the piece together and cut it into four finished coasters—each one unique, crisp in design, and full of personality.
This class is a joyful way to learn an essential felting technique while experimenting freely and coming home with a set of functional, artful felted coasters.
Cost: $70 (includes all tools and materials)
Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm or 4:00 depending on class size
Location: My cozy studio—complete with hot tea, coffee, and, of course, snacks.
What to Expect: This is a physically active class that involves some standing and vigorous rubbing and rolling using your hands and arms.
What to Wear: It’s handy to wear an apron to catch the water drips and ¾ sleeves, or sleeves you can roll up. Wear comfy shoes.
What to Bring: Snacks or lunch. There is a fridge and microwave available.
